NO BEST OVERALL!
Sorry, but the best were just too good and too different to compare.

Best Interpretation

César Hernández - Challenge #4. "Rahne is in front of her bedroom mirror getting dressed. Pictures of all her former love interests are on the dresser and mirror. The calendar reads Feb. 14 and Rahne is melancholy. Points for detail on her dresser or room."
I knew César's drawing ability was superhuman, but this is as if he pulled the image directly out of my mind. That and the detail are both amazing. A colored version of this is also in the works.

Cesar also began a sketch for challenge #8. Be sure to see César's other work in the FanArt section.

David Mumford - Challenge# 6: "(Blevins-era) Rictor, Magik, Boom-Boom, and Dani are in a room (maybe watching tv or eating breakfast, doesn't matter). Rictor is misusing his power to make the girls' boobs (and only their boobs) jiggle around (only Magik seems the least bit entertained by this). Rahne (in transitional form--or even only part-transitional form, if you can pull it off) is behind Ric with one fierce-looking claw drawn back and a stern look on her face. The caption (can be part of the illustration if you want extra points) should read something like "Mutant Ethics 101." Points for diversity and expression! Should be comical."
Um...this is not much like what I had in mind, but the result is more unique and different than anything I've seen in a long time. David would be a good one to call for a New Mutant's tattoo design. Very interesting work.

David was also kind enough to supply us with this preliminary sketch. See more of David's work in the FanArt section.

Ken Roeder - Challenge #1: "Any scene with Rahne from my short fic "Sometimes 2 Beers is All It Takes" at http://www.rahne-sinclair.com/text/2beers.txt"
Ken also has a disturbing ability to draw scenes very close to the mental image I have of them. His take on Challenge #4 was also very close to what I was thinking.

Don't miss Ken's other fanart, including his other entries for this year's contest.

Great work, guys! See you next year.

When you see me, you're at the bottom of the page.
