One Bad ComboRahne would consider all the original New Mutants her friends, but Danielle (Mirage) would have to be the closest. From the first issue of the New Mutants until Dani left the team to stay in Asgard, the two were best friends. Due to Dani's psychic rapport with animals, Rahne and Dani have a special communication whenever Rahne is in wolf form. Dani often watched over Rahne like a big sister, or calmed her down whenever she was losing her temper. Sometimes Dani would help Rahne to overcome the fear inflicted by her strict upbringing by encouraging her to try new things. Rahne and Dani were so close that they would call each other "darling," "my heart," and "soul mate."

Once Rahne started to mature, she made friends easily, but the original New Mutants are the closest and dearest.

The typical study environment for the third generation at Xavier's.

Guido (Strong Guy) Carosella, Rahne's closest teammate on X-Factor, was a source of strength for her when she was suffering from the Genoshan bond to Alex (Havok) Summers. The bond caused changes in Rahne's body and her emotions, making her so strongly attracted to Alex that she was violently jealous of Lorna (Polaris) Dane, though the two of them eventually became friends.

The extraterrestrial Warlock has a very special relationship with Rahne, having first been her friend and seemingly dying, to be later resurrected as a bizarre caricature of himself and the deceased mutant Doug (Cypher) Ramsey. Calling himself Douglock and unsure of his own identity, he befriended Rahne. For a short time the two had a romantic relationship. Ultimately Douglock realized that he is indeed Warlock (with the combined memories of himself and Doug Ramsey), and is still a close friend of Rahne.

Rahne was the first of the New Mutants to truly sympathize with Warlock, and also the first to reach out to the ani-mate known as Bird Boy or Bird Brain. She is a generous and benevolent person who is quick to offer friendship to others, though she is close with only a few.

It should be noted that on one of the New Mutants' many time-jumps, Rahne met and befriended Robert the Bruce, the ancient King of Scotland. He gave Rahne a silver and emerald necklace which is her most prized possession to this day. In exchange, Rahne gave the King the belt from her Xavier's Institute uniform.

You know they must really miss all the time-jumping.

In the earlier part of Rahne's life, no one brought her greater comfort than her adopted mother Moira MacTaggert. As the world's leading geneticist, Moira was normally too busy to have a frequent place in Rahne's life until the Rahne moved to Muir Isle to join Excalibur. By that time however, Moira was dying from the Legacy Virus, a virus that normally only affects mutants. At one point Rahne actually locked herself into quarantine with Moira while Moira worked to find a cure for the virus. Ultimately, the cure was discovered, but not before Moira was killed by the mutant terrorist Raven (Mystique) Darkholme.
